Readers who might be writers

Most newspaper editors around the world – around 80pc – now regularly publish user-generated content, according to study published in the Press Gazette.

Nurturing communities of readers through enhanced engagement using tools like UGC will be crucial to newspapers survival in the digital era (I believe). Of course there are concerns over legal issues and such, but the added perspective and  incentive for readers to be the next contributor should hopefully get them coming back again and again. And as I’ve written before, this could be complemented by a more rigorously nurtured comment system…
