10 million

The number of users of Path, the ‘intimate’ social network that bills itself as a more personal alternative to Facebook, according to NextWeb.
That milestone is impressive in a world of FB dominance, although not everyone is impressed with how they’re doing it. A London-based SEO strategist tells how it blitzed his phone contacts with texts within minutes of him joining, waking up his grandparents at silly o’clock with a call to read out a text inviting them to download Path to see some pictures that he had for them (he had no pictures). (Some UK landlines have a read-out option that calls the recipient with an automated reading of any text message sent to them.)
Suffice to say, it serves as a cautionary tale about what he calls an ‘anti-social network’. His account of the episode and Path’s attempts to right it are contained here.
